WASPAR

WASPAR stands for Water Security through Participatory Action Research in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. The project emerged through academics attached to the University of Jaffna as a proposal submitted to the World Bank funded AHEAD Development Oriented research programme. The proposal has been submitted with the advice given by some of the eminent scholars around the world. Beginning in 2020, WASPAR is being conducted as a trans-disciplinary research project at the University of Jaffna. It seeks to cultivate a province-wide dialogue forum called Northern Water Forum. In addition to that, the WASPAR aims to cultivate the practice of community-based research as the way to move forward to preserve our precious water sources.
